The Process

The Agluna™ process, developed by scientists at Accentus Medical, produces a silver biocide surface modification to titanium or titanium alloy implants with silver concentrations in line with those shown to be effective in eliminating bacteria. This is achieved by high voltage anodisation of the titanium implant substrate in dilute phosphoric acid, followed by the absorption of silver from an aqueous solution.
